Ace Hotel x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey – Navy & Black

LIMITED EDITION OF 300 

Ace Hotel New York teamed up with Converse to create this special pair of Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey shoes with black waxed canvas uppers and navy outsoles. Inspired by shoes from the Converse archive, they feel like a sneaker, but have rugged boot detailing and design cues taken from vintage wading boots and shoes Converse created for US Military basic training in the 1940s. These are exclusive to Ace and are worn by their staff in New York City, Portland and Seattle.

 The statement “You Are Here” is printed on the foot bed 

a sentiment which also appears on the Ace NYC entrance rain mat.

"my art is basically my reaction to the environment that I’m living in. My artworks tell tales of my personal angst, failures, admiration and desires realised through the canvas. The use of odd images represent, essentially, all of my life -- from my childhood days of simplicity and playfulness up to my present adulthood days where life is more complex and full of angst. This riotous stage of my life has a significant effect on my art-making.
The idea of Escapism, the feeling of loss and estrangement somehow taught me to appreciate and inspire dis-orientation, and to construct a new fantasy through my paintings.

The ideas emerging out of the collective, as well as subjective unconscious -- constituting essential elements that escape their own boundaries and float through the world of multiple signifiers, that re-animate and demystify the scenes from my past -- are clearly seen in my paintings. It is concerned with not only aesthetic creation, but primarily with the cognitive realm of experiences and knowledge.

The play of the unsay-able that can only be expressed through art.

The quality of flexibility, dynamism, change and mobility is assimilated into my paintings.

Chaos has its own anarchic beauty…

My paintings serve as a therapeutic solution to my problems in life, replacing pain with witty fantasy." - Whoop
